Put a magnet to the 2011, could be zinc rotting beneath the plating.

The 2011 is non magnetic

I will have to double check the Wheat cent as it was late, it might have been a D mark. all I am sure of is that it was pretty well worn, maybe I will get a pic later tonight.

Foote's (Langley) is great once you get past the 80+ year old owners grumpy moods and strange business hours (keeps pretty regular hours but can and will close whenever he feels like it). Once he recognizes you after a few visits he really warms up. Closed Sunday/Monday which are my days off so I don't get out there as often as I like.

Phil's... (Langley) only had one experience there, was basically given the "we can't be bothered with you attitude" even though I was the only person in the store. I guess facebook and candy crush are more important than talking to your customers!?! They do maintain a decent volume of ebay listings, of which I refuse to buy from just out of principle.

I've had identical experiences as you when I lived in the lower mainland. I really enjoy Foote's a lot and now refuse to buy from Phil's Bills online and in real life.

Now that I'm in Calgary, we have Calgary Coin here and it's a great experience and the owner is really knowledgeable.

I live in Surrey too, and suspect I'm not too far from you ace_ftw. I actually thought of posting an ad to Craigslist trying to see if I could start a local coin club myself. As far as I'm concerned it's a dead zone out here big time. One local coin shop in a 10x10 room, high prices, very low inventory. Foots is best in my opinion but is a long way to drive from where I am. Those are the only two stores I've been to out here. It'd be nice if there was a local club out here so the few of us could share some knowledge.

Here are a few more cool finds, I have to admit, when you find 2 complete rolls of US Cents it makes me feel like I am Hunting in the USA.

I found this 1920s Wheat cent last night
Coin-Dead-Zone

This is the 1935s cent I found the other night

And this little bugger surprised me, I thought I had a nice little steel cent, I was surprised to see that it was 1991 (I placed the 1995 cent next to it for comparison)

I think this is the Zinc Core, however the weight is like 2.4g, which is basically the same as the copper plated ones.

So I need some clarification from someone on this one.

Coinmart doesn't have a store, just a mailing address. I have been to Mr. Hunt's house to purchase a coin but I don't know if he does this regularly.

Today with the internet and ebay, the bricks and mortar shops are going by the wayside. I had a shop for years(over 13) and in this day and age would never have one again. The only real problem with NOT having a storefront is the inability to buy from the public. Have to do a lot more coin shows to replenish stock. Other than that online is awesome.

The Coin shop (Whiterock) in white rock is okay but not much inventory anymore mainly selling silver and gold.
