Do Buffalo Nickels Mint Mark Fade Too?

goobot Valued Member United States 89 Posts	Posted 10/04/2014 01:28 am I know that dates for these coins fade real easy but my question is do the mint marks as well? The word 5 cents usually is there one way or another even on a faded coin but it seems to also have no mint mark and I almost find it hard to believe they are all phily coins. Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 10/06/2014 02:46 am They can disappear early on the 1913 Type 1 coins because like the date they are on op of the mound and are about the highest point on the reverse. On the type 2 coins the mintmark is in a protected area and lasts until the coin is heavily worn. Report this Post to the Staff

People tend to hoard the ones with mint marks and send the Philly coins back out into the world. Report this Post to the Staff
