Alright, the reason it looks so to me is because it looks like it has that tail on the top left? Am I only imagining this?

I had a topic up for a possible 1916-D Mercury dime, I sent the coin into ANACS, only way to know. Maybe go to that topic and see what you think of the photo of the mintmark. It shows more of the MM than your photo but it still is up in the air.

Meaning no offense, yes. Any mint mark (this is a Philadelphia coin) will be as bold as the lower leaf it's next to - a mint mark on this coin would be obvious, and one isn't there.

Not that I wouldn't be wishing for a D if I were you.

Usually mint marks in these Mercury dimes don't get worn down as much as the rim does, so this is most likely just a 16 P.

Yeah, they'll wear some but at least half of the mint mark should be farther from the rim than (for instance) the easily-noted center crossbar of the E.
