Sap Moderator Australia 16883 Posts	Posted 03/09/2015 7:29 pm The cross-with-four-B-shapes symbol was used by the Palaeologus dynasty of the Late Byzantine Empire, as well as by their Serbian neighbours - you can still see it on the Serbian coat of arms. This coin looks more Western European than Byzantine/Serbian, so my guess would be a coin from Montferrat, ruled by a minor branch of the dynasty until it was taken over by Spain in 1533.
