Well, while roll searching I came across a 1946 with what I believe is lam error. I also found a War Nickel with lamination error as well. I've heard that it was common for War Nickels to have this error due to poor mixing of alloys. So what do you guys think? Is this PMD or actual lam error?
This is the first time I've heard the term "post strike lam". So does this mean there are different types of lamination errors? Sorry for the ignorance. I'm still learning.
Yes, 2, maybe more, types of lamination errors. pre strike and post strike. Pre strike is when the metal peels and either folds or falls off before the design is punched in, post is after the strike, the coin starts peeling. Nice post lam you have here. Btw some lams are a combination of post and pre.
Not to thread-jack, please don't respond to this post/topic : P but here is a coin I found a few weeks ago with both pre-strike and post-strike lamination (both pealed). Notice the details are complete on part of the lamination and missing from the second part of the lamination? https://goccf.com/t/224415
