I won this coin on ebay last night. After the auction I noticed in the small print that the seller had is listed as a 1928-S "Large S" (FS-501 FS-0136) variety. I've done a little online research since then, but thought I'd ask the CCF group for opinions on the coin.

PCGS lists it as a minor variety, so I don't know if it has any greater value than a normal 1928-S. I think it is a pretty Lincoln Cent, though.

These are the photos from the auction.

Looks like a normal "small S" to me.

Here's a link to the Lincoln Cent Resource, with pictures of the two different mint-mark styles for 1928.

I did check out the Lincoln Cent Resource site, but wasn't sure which type S it is on the coin.

Thanks for your response.

I found something intriguing. It appears to be a small s over large s 1928-s penny.

Though I would humbly ask the coin communities interpretation on this particular subject.
It was pretty exciting to find and still is.

Regards.

Rest in Peace

Looks like Machine Doubling on the coin posted by coin5. The same push can be seen on the date as well on the 9.
Another reference on the 1928-S Mint marks.

Even though I could probably go back and find the listing, how much did you pay? This beats the one that's in my dansco, I wonder if they're relatively cheap in this grade.

My 1909-present dansco has 1959-present in all BU except several dates, and my 1909-1958 is mostly all F-VF+'s, including the 31 S.

Taking over someone else's thread is considered a breach of online courtesy, especially when that thread was finished months ago. We're more than happy to help, but please post threads of your own origin.

I didn't realize how old this is, and I'm sure this auction is long gone.
