Came across this listing...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Imperial-Ru...em1c56710f93

Quite a scarce coin, the blurring of the NGC serial number though worries me to the point I am not bidding... Any thoughts?

Has anyone else heard of blurring serial numbers on graded coins for 'privacy purposes?'

Very tough coin, but I cannot see why seller would delete the slab number.

Have you asked him?

And by the way - no returns!

This smells to high heaven, Nearly a page of blank space, followed by I'm not sure if it's a copy?

The graded population of this piece can't be too high, so it should be traceable on the NGC site. I wouldn't be willing to take the risk of bidding under these circumstances.

Since it's closing in 38 minutes (price over $1200), I guess I'm too late to say anything other than...

... I HOPE TO GOODNESS YOU DIDN'T BID...

Classic scam. Stock picture of a genuine coin, send the buyer a fake.

No, I most certainly did not bid, there were more red flags with this listing than I could count...

Also, I did some quick research- Seems there have been a couple of attempted frauds with this date coin, all with ebay IDs in the same location:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1797-Heavy-...321743767589

Feedback received for each:

Buyer Beware!

The 1797 rouble looked suspicious BEFORE I saw the blotted out ID number. No ebay picture should be that blurry.
