I have had this coin for a while in an attempt to motivate me to study more on nickel doubling techniques. However, as much as I've researched, I have only managed to see that this design is only on proofs.

This is not a proof, as far as I know, it doesn't look like a proof at all. However, I have noticed that the dye may be just some dramatic Mechanical Doubling, but it does appear to triple in spots as well. Is this possible or could this just be a proof that snuck into circulation?

Thanks for any assistance in figuring this out :).

See how its mushy looking, with flat and shelve-like doubling, also those weird lines pushing toward the edge is die flow on a very late stage die with machine damage and Die Deterioration.

Here all 1960 DDO Jefferson nickel Listings you can compare it against all

But I know this year well there is only one Business Strike DDO with distorted hub type effecting R in liberty
http://www2.briansvarietycoins.com/...ngs/view/665
the only none proof DDO on a 1960 Jefferson nickel effect R the word liberty, date and star but that one has class II, Distorted Hub Doubling
