1970 D Washington Quarter, Grade Please

I did some research, and it appears that quite a few really nice quarters came out of Denver that year, many more than Philly. Anyway, what do you think it grades? Report this Post to the Staff

I'm usually hard on myself when it comes to Washington quarters because I send out quite a few modern date (65-95) and have pretty good success on the grading aspect. Your coin has a few distracting marks on Washington's profile and a triple slash (albiet small) in the field to the left of the mouth. With that said, this should grade out comfortably at the 66+ level. NGC will grade this a 67, PCGS will tag it with either 66/66+. But all in all, nice example but the pops are high in 67. One of the few dates during this time that the mint got the strike really strong. Report this Post to the Staff

kookoox10 Pillar of the Community United States 1054 Posts	Posted 05/05/2016 2:05 pm Yeah, 1970-D is one of those dates that the graders are looking at the absolute best grade because of how high the pops are.
