Some good clues to follow up on. I never thought of contacting the town, chamber of commerce. I suppose I could maybe ask Asyn, as he was listing them as silver. A neighbour is offering me 10. Asyn was getting $8-10 each. So I'm not sure what's a fair price. I like my neighbour, however, don't want to over pay either.
My question is why such a high denomination. I have lived in Hinton 12 yrs I never saw these except on ebay. I have seen other Hinton Trade dollars that are $1, so $20 is unusual.
My new neighbour is a coin collector. We were up til 1am going through pails of pennies. He has a ton of 2006 still almost mint and 2010s. I set those to go through. We basically sorted by decade, pulling dates aside to look further for varieties. This could be dangerous having a coin collector next door. He really likes pennies & silver dollars.
