I have a 1947 Canadian 1 Cent error coin that I am trying to find information on so I can get some idea of its value. It's a little bit smaller in circumference than it should be. It also has a very thick edge making both the obverse and reverse edges extremely raised, yet both images seem to be free of mint made errors except for some ghost lettering on the obverse side of the coin. The ghost lettering also seems to be letters from the obverse side. It looks to me to be an M located between the X in REX and the E in ET, and a G located between the T in ET and the I in IND. Any information on the coin or places I can find information, would be very helpful. I'll post photos of the coin next to an error free coin of the same type. I will try to capture the ghost lettering in the photos.
Thank You.

I've seen ghost lettering threads, turn out to be clashes.

I agree with both of the above.
More than likely a Dryer Coin and the ghosting is probably
caused by die clashes.
Will need good photos though to confirm.
Don't think there will be much value though.
A Dryer Coin is considered to be PMD.

Here are pictures of the canadian error penny with an American penny. I used an American penny because it's pretty much the same size and thickness as a canadian penny and I didn't have another canadian penny on hand. I took pictures of both coins side by side obverse and reverse to show how deep the edges are compared to a regular penny(you can also somewhat see the size difference in the side by side photos), I took a photo of the error coin on top of the normal penny to better show the size difference of the two coins, and I took photos of the edges of the coins side by side so you can see the difference in thickness of the two coin edges. Hope these photos help and thanks to everyone for their input.

The coin has been placed on a hard edge and lightly hammered or spooned until the edge widened out.....
