Identifying 17th Century Ottoman Coin

tool New Member United States 7 Posts	Posted 02/17/2017 9:43 pm I've been going through the coins and bills I collected when I was a kid and have mostly been able to identify them, but one is tricky. I'm pretty sure it's Ottoman and from AH 1106, but I am not sure of a more precise identification. It looks very much like this Mustafa II 1/2 kurush: https://www.sixbid.com/browse.html?...&lot=1335918, but the differences between that and the 1 kurush (https://www.sixbid.com/browse.html?...&lot=1335919) are very slight to someone who doesn't read Arabic. On the last picture, and on the second line to the bottom (farthest left area), it appears the 1/2 kurush has two arrow-things, and the 1 kurush has three. Your coin has three, so I would think 1 kurush, but that could just be some different variety. To be sure, check the diameter: 1 kurush should be around 38 millimetres, and 1/2 kurush should be around 28 millimetres. Report this Post to the Staff
