The often will look raised, (like the EPU on the shield cents) but rotating the coin with the light in the same position. Looking again at this this thread it maybe a stain on the coin? How to tell? A stain will not be incuse or raised on the coin. It will be flat leaving just a coloration on the area in question that the brain views a digit. If it were a literal number, where are the rest of the devices that should be there it was lets say a double strike? So the way you could have a single digit/letter would be from a struck through a dropped letter. This could be mirrored or normal in shape. (depending how the dropped letter fell) But I'm not seeing it incuse on your coin. Report this Post to the Staff
