I recently purchased a 2017 1 oz silver Australian Kangaroo coin. In my search through the internet, it says in coin news and even Perth Mint that the micro-engraved A is in the first A of AUSTRALIAN (left leg) like in 2016. I checked my coin and found the engraved A in the last A of AUSTRALIAN (right leg of the A).

I don't think my coin is a fake as I tested it and comparing it with the 2016 its identical in dimensions and weight.

Hope someone can shed light into this.

Hi Bugoy

My 2017 Kangaroo is like yours.....so maybe they changed it for 2017

2017-1-Oz-Silver-Kangaroo-Security-Feature-Question

From all the online pics I've seen so far the 'A' micro-engraving is in the 3rd A right-leg

Look at the bright side - if this is not standard, maybe we have a rare variety and perhaps not a fake.....food for thought

Thanks MR,

I actually found about it by accident. When I was searching for fake 2017 kangaroos, picture popped up showing the engraved A in the 3rd A of AUSTRALIAN which prompted me to look in the area.

I hope its a variant.

Anyone findings the A engraving in the first A of Australia ?
