It is a medallion for the RAM commemorating the decimalisation of Australian Currency in 1966. I am thrilled to be able to add this piece to my Australian Numismatic Collection. Thank you Snooba! It was actually minted by Stokes, a private token, badge and medal-making firm in Melbourne. This piece is listed in the old Carlisle catalogue of Australian medals and medalets as number 1966/16, mintage 6000 in bronze, 3000 in silver. This catalogue dates from 1983; Les Carlisle has just finished producing his long-awaited second edition of the catalogue. I've ordered a copy.
