Novice Needs Input On 1963 D Penny Possible Error

It could be acid-dipped, but it does not appear to be so. I don't think that is a legitimate answer. It could have been struck on a similar, but smaller, foreign coin planchet. The year and any countries involved would need to be worked out for that one. Most likely, it was artificially worn down on the edges to create a smaller cent. That would be just damage. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 03/03/2018 1:45 pm Note the year. Back then you could buy a soda from a vending machine (10 oz. bottle) for 10 cents. So they may have reduced the overall size a bit. But probably didn't work as it would have been too heavy. They used to use acid to turn a cent into a dime size. But it wasn't struck like that.
