I think I've found a no-fg variety 1970-D LMC Penny. However, I wanted to see if there were other known examples, before I make myself look like a fool.

It would be from over polishing or Grease Filled Die so I guess that could happen to any date Lincoln Memorial cent.

I agree with @mark1959, but pics would be best to help us confirm. And hopefully you don't feel like anyone here is judging you as a fool by your questions!

The initials are still there, but barely.

I see a very small line that doesn't correspond to FG as normally found. Where do you see the initials, E&V?

I believe that I can still see the partial G of "FG" unless if I am wrong?

Google "no fg cent". Sort by or click images.

Note: the majority no fg's (initials) listed are from 1969 - 1972 Denver mint. RDV-002 was in use during this time period. http://www.varietyvista.com/01b%20L...arieties.htm

Fivas and Stanton attribute the 1969-D as FS-901 in The Cherrypicker's Guide and it has been recognized by PCGS, with top grade specimens selling in the hundreds. I understand that PCGS no longer certifies these coins.
