Good, morning. I received the cain with other change from a store about a month ago. Its worn and appears to have copper starting to be visible through out layers. What mainly got my attention was the weight. 5.2 grams. Also, I have never seen an edge showing 3 layers. Here are some pictures so you can steer my right on this. Thanks.
Hm...looks like a lot of PMD to me. Also the weight of the quarter is normal since back then, approxametly 1965 quarters, they weighed 5.6 grams. Not for sure why the quarter has multiple layers, maybe they did that back then? Not for sure...besides it having multiple layers, everything else on your quarter is normal, to my eyes.
Ive tried to find something listed and I havent found anything. The center layer showing in the first picture on the left, is wide copper, with two thin outer layers, which I am guessing is clad?
Looks like it was dipped in acid. Note the copper core is shrunk back and the cladding was affected. PSD. Spendable (probably might work in a vending machine yet)
