foundinrolls Pillar of the Community United States 3507 Posts	Posted 10/24/2008 3:41 pm Hi, It may be an experiment in artificial toning. This is only a suggestion but it is possible. I've seen coins where each side of the coin reacted differently. Some folks jam a coin into a potato, or an apple or some other food item and bake it in an oven. It creates some pretty interesting effects and is a common way for coin doctors to retone a coin. That being said, this is probably not the case with this coin but it is an outside possibility. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 10/25/2008 6:23 pm The yellow on the coin reminds me of highlighter that was applied and then circulated for a while and leaving it antiqued in the deeper parts of the coin. Some heat coins to add an artificial color to them and coins that are cleaned tend to turn colors with age. So different things can color coins as well. Report this Post to the Staff
