I was actually looking at liberty because I was checking for doubling and I noticed the 2 y's, where one should be a "T".

Sorry to say that is not two Y's.
The top of the T has taken a hit pushing it downward.
It is impossible for that to happen during the striking of the coin.

@jimmyd is correct, but I agree that the letter T has been contorted into a close likeness of a letter Y. I would bet that if you provided an in-focus, close-up view of this area, we could see evidence of moved metal.
