1960-P Lincoln Cent Variations? - Coin Community Forum

MrRick Valued Member United States 122 Posts	Posted 12/17/2008 12:07 pm I always seem to start a thread in a forum & then find out I probably posted in the wrong one, so I'll try this here instead of the Modern Forum. I found this 1960P Lincoln today & noticed that it was listed as a Faulty '0' on the 2x2. I tried looking online for some info to see if it was actually a variation but didn't see anything about it. The right side of the 0 in 1960 is straight, which is unlike the rest of my 1960's. I can't see any damage around the numbers which would lead me to believe that it was torqued w/ pliers or anything. Have you seen them like this & is it common? You can see the full size by clicking the link. Any input would be appreciated. Sometimes it leaves a big scrape on the coin that's rounded and parallel with the rim, other times it barely touches, just enough to slide a detail or two around. It seems to have happened a lot with 1941 cents, tilting the last 1 of the date. Report this Post to the Staff

But I am nearly in disbelief that a machine can slant a digit without having grinded it off! My 1941 with slanted '1' seems fairly extreme. Is the digit re-attached at a different place than it was? I don't want to be a doubter (I respect your authority on cents), but may I ask what your source is for the 1941? PS: Is the cent project going anywhere? Any luck with the data compilation?
