What Causes An Octagonal Type Error On US Coinage?

CoinFortunes New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 01/28/2020 3:58 pm I have a 1974 quarter, 1942 dime, and several pennies of that share the same octagonal type pattern. On certain areas of each coin are 135° degree angles that are coalescent with the angles on a 1080° octogon. I'm stumped. Errers and Varietys Bedrock of the Community United States 75421 Posts	Posted 01/28/2020 4:02 pm To CCF! Well unfortunately, this isn't a legitimate error. It's been damaged after it left the U.S. Mint. PSD. Normal circulation wear and tear. The edges got banged up and pushed in. So it's not an error coin and has no extra value. Errers and Varietys.
