It looks odd to me in the way that it seems like there are ripples surrounding Lincoln as well as the completely missing L in Liberty.

Is the rim thicker than other cents? Looks like a Dryer Coin or one that was in the process of having the rims rolled to make a ring.

@rose, I see what you are talking about, but with this much circulation wear, it is hard to know for sure that it isn't just damage. For example, perhaps that missing letter L was the result of a grease-filled die, but more likely at this point is that it was mechanically removed in the last 100+ years (such as from a Gumball Machine) or it is now worn into the rim.

sheldius, it definitely has a thicker rim. When I googled a 1917 s error coin, this coin showed up so I thought I'd check with you guys and see.

The "L" is greased filled or there would be a remnant weak or strong. The status of the rim can be argued.
