I found this 2005-D penny that weighs 2.1 grams and is the size of a dime. Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that dimes have the copper sandwiched between two layers of cupronickel. This looks like a zincoln cent that has bee traumatized.

Oh really. Interesting. I just figure it was a dime planchet due to the size and weight

This is a normal Lincoln Cent that's been heavily damaged, after it left the U.S Mint. PMD. Not struck on a Dime planchet. It would be a Silver color, if it was. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...auction.html

Yup...sorry...just a typical messed up Zincoln cent. This is more common than a person may think. A lot of people do a lot of weird things to coins.

yep, a damaged cent - intentionally reduced to the size of a dime to possibly use in a vending machine.
