Today for the first time I called a bank that I've previously visited at their other locations. A teller told me that she had $90 in customer-wrapped half dollars. When she brought them in a box, she said that they contained a lot of silver coins. When I asked her how she knew that, she replied "Because I've looked through them." Was I excited...Another bonanza! I found one 40% silver Kennedy half dollar (which I suppose is better than finding nothing).
In retrospect, I think she figured that I am a coin-roller hunter and decided to pull my leg. Thinking about it, I doubt that bank tellers open customer-rolled coins and examine them.
Including these rolls, I recently have searched $300 in loose or customer-wrapped half dollars. The only silver coin I have found is the one I mentioned above. But I know Lady Luck will smile on me if I keep looking...
Keep it up. Some tellers do go through rolls, most probably aren't interested. I searched roughly $125k between 2009-2014 and found close to 1500 silvers, the majority being silver dimes.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72
