I got this coin from a Numista swap about a month ago for about 50 cents. Do you think this is a variety?

I understand why you might think it has potential to be a DDR but unfortunately, I'm seeing MD & Die Deterioration.

Agreed, it is MD, and a great learning coin.
As you can see on this part of the coin, the devices are step-like and reduced a bit.
