Greasy Fingers Pillar of the Community United States 7140 Posts	Posted Yesterday 11:43 pm Tell me you needed the 55 and/or 57 for your Proofs collection, otherwise for me that 51 with "damage" would become an impaired proof for someone else. I've played around with many nickels with corrosion and all the results turn out the same. You can neutralize it but when you remove it what's underneath is no good. Report this Post to the Staff

I believed that those dark flecks are where corrosion happened, and then stopped. It isn't like verdigris, which will continue eating across the surface of the coin. I have seen a number of proof coins with a few tiny black flecks in straight graded holders. Report this Post to the Staff

panzaldi Bedrock of the Community United States 18752 Posts	Posted Today 6H 35M ago i think all of the discoloration, spotting and weaker reverse strike in the center will hold the grade back on this one. wasnt sure if you wanted a grade or not.
