1987 Constitution 200th Silver Dollar Differences

ScarecrowGifts Valued Member United States 70 Posts	Posted 12/30/2009 8:14 pm Hi folks, I just found a couple 1987 silver dollars and noticed a difference from one mint to the other. The background is mirrored on one and satin on the other (sorry if not the right terms). Does anyone have more info on these and which version is better? Thanks, Dan Report this Post to the Staff

As far which is better ... kind of like comparing apples and oranges. Pricing is about the same for both. btw you got the terms correct: satin and mirrored. Report this Post to the Staff
GR58 Bedrock of the Community United States 11951 Posts	Posted 12/30/2009 9:58 pm The mintage's for the 1987 p is 451,629 and for the 1987 S (proof) is 2,747,116. Both are high mintage for commemorative dollars. Like Seatednut says both are listed for the same price ( Red Book). Mostly the mint sells more proof versions of commemorative coins. Which is better is just preference. I like Uncirculated versions. Report this Post to the Staff
