Nope, I see it now. Maybe I read a comment yesterday from someone who heard a rumour.

Regardless, I call shenanigans.

And, one minute later, it suddenly dips to $69 and sinking fast. Whaaa?

That sudden huge Green spike in the US Dollar followed by the big Red dip in Silver and Gold.

In case anyone is still wondering how strong the correlation between the Dollar and the metals is right now.

From CNN: "Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh stays quiet on interest rates but calls inflation 'concerning'."

Uh Oh

Yeah that would explain the Markets reaction.

So much for the bounce. Another drop, this time all the way to $67. I'm starting to get nauseated again...

It's just after 12 noon on Wall Street and the Dollar is still on a tear, ripping higher. Right now it's almost back to where it was before the Treasury announced the buy backs in bonds.

The entire markets got tossed around like a bucking bronco because of how Warsh is being interpreted by the market.

Remember Gold is the leader, Silver is the follower. This morning Gold didn't get as nice of a bump up as Silver did. Gold started selling off early. Expect that Gold will see a pull back to $4500-$4400 range for support. While Silver has $66 as the next area of support. Silver has so far whipsawed through this entire weeks range, from $71.16 to $66.72

For whatever it's worth, this is the current "Market Alert" over at APMEX.com: "Metals Fall on Inflation Outlook, Rate Hikes More Likely."

Yeah that's exactly what's happening, Warsh's comment is being interpreted as a 'green light' for a rate hike. Sending the Dollar through the roof and dumping metals and high flying stocks.

Is the market over reacting? Yes. Absolutely. This is what the market does. No one wants to be left holding the bag. When the market panics it throws out the baby with the bath water and asks questions later.

Silver hit $71+ today and could have just as easily shot up to $75 had Warsh's comment been more dove'ish.

There's still a few week's before he announces whether or not he'll actually go through with it. In the coming weeks leading to that we'll be getting the next series of economic and inflation reports for August. So I'm sure we're in for a rollercoaster ride every time a report is released.

Everyone assumes that Warsh is just a lackey or a servant to the president. And that he'll do whatever his 'Boss' wants, which is not to raise interest rates... But the Markets fear or 'risk' is that Warsh will dispell that myth in September. No one knows how this will end.

So Buckle up for the next few week's.

Bla bla bla, jawboning by Warsh.
Let them raise rates and bankrupt the Federal government. I believe it when I see it.

I think it's reasonable to account for some profit taking at the end of the week, too.
