I know next to nothing about Indian Head cents. I don't own a single example, but browsing through ebay listings, and other sources, it's my perception that proof examples are worth less than examples meant for circulation of the same year, mint, and grade. Is my perception wrong? If not, why is this so?

I was hoping to answer your question, but I know very little on proofs, or proofs in circulaiton. Good luck.

Proofs started out in the winner's circle. Circulation strikes needed a lot of help getting there.

Proofs are more expensive in the higher mintage years but for the 69 to 77 years a proof in comparable grade is much cheaper, since many people collect for registry set they will want business strikes for me that collects by date regardless of strike I'll gladly pay less for a proof. Proofs also look better.
