national dealer Pillar of the Community United States 2724 Posts	Posted 03/14/2005 5:26 pm Since this topic has come up again, I thought that I would share a few ideas. Buy some junk coins. Dateless Buffalo's, Wheat Cents, worn 3CS or 3CN's, Two Cent Coins, currency. Put them in 2x2's with your name and email address on them. Pass these coins out to everyone. Use them as tips, gifts, and giveaways. Every person has coins in their possession. Some are just spenders and others have numismatic value. Let people know that you collect. I use avery labels on our 2x2's and you can easily put something like: Buying pre 1964 US coins joesomebody@whomever-com You will be very surprised when you start getting emails from perfect strangers asking you about coins. It works. Go to your local bank two or three days a week and leave the tellers a numismatic gift. Let them know that you "buy" old coins or errors or whatever. Make sure that they know who you are on sight. When they do offer you something, be sure to give them a thank you gift. No matter how worthless the item is, it is always nice to receive a thank you. The head teller at my local bank has a complete Franklin set because of these thannk you gifts. Every time I walk into the bank, it is like Christmas. The waitresses at the local "Lone Star" fight to get my table. I can leave a 3CN as a tip and they love it. Half Cents are always a good idea also. These are coins that have values of less than 10 dollars and go much farther at having them remember you. Waiters and waitresses receive lots of cash and coins during a shift, and will remember you when something weird pops up. I have gotten so many customers through this action that it boggles the mind that most don't follow the example. It is certainly cheap enough, and makes a very lasting impression. SFDukie Pillar of the Community United States 980 Posts	Posted 05/29/2005 7:42 pm Hi ND, I was checking out Sackie mintage figures and came across a website which mentions that Coors brewery puts a sticker on the reverse of sac dollar coins, and encourages employees to spend the "golden' dollars in Golden , CO, to show the imapct of Coors on the community. Bobby's idea of tracking the notes is a neat little idea. I will work a simular project during the CoinFest event. I would love to see a hundred thousand cents making their way across America. Yah, me too Andy. Wouldn't that be fun I hand out the new quarters to the waitresses around town, and now they all collect state qurters. CarlTromp Valued Member Netherlands 309 Posts	Posted 05/30/2005 2:07 pm I myself help out on fancy fairs sometimes, and put Wilhelmina sets then on the table to give them to children who come, those 1, 5, 10 and 25 cent pieces from '48 are not expensive, but nice to put in a 4 x 4 holder, kids like coins, and maybee one kid on each fair is getting so interrested that he or she will start to collect as well.
