If so, I suspect it's a Japanese "pachinko" game token. Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. IF Japanese, the lack of the chrysanthem diagnostic means it is not a gov.t issued coin. I would tend to also agree that this is a token of some sort. I would also like to know where your friend found this, because there is always a chance that a provenance may lead to a different opinion. He owns and runs a local small grocery store and received the coin for payment not looking at it and thinking it was a quarter. Therefore I have no provenance. Now that is a ten letter word!
