Hello everyone. I am not really a coin collector but like anyone else I hang onto old coins. But my mother recently gifted me with a couple dozen coins tokens and commemorative medals that my grandfather had collected. Among them were two Manitoba gold pieces both dated 1898. One a 1D and the other a 1/2D. The D is stylised and I'm assuming it stands for dollar. On the obverse is a maple leaf with a buffalo centered and the lettering Victoria Regina. I am coming up totally blank as far as the Internet searches go and I do not have a clue as to where to even star in the library. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
