Bruce, First let me thank you very much for your advice. I find many useful tips in your post. I have already gone into silver as I have all the silver Roosevelts and what my set is missing are post-1964. I was thinking of expanding this set to include proofs. I see that you too advice for Franklins and since I like the design very much, I think I will give it a try to complete a set in Unc or AU. I think collecting in these grades will help me complete the set much easier regarding my location. Buying from ebay is not applicable for me as most of the sellers require a paypal account and unfortunately paypal doesn't deal with Egypt so I sometimes ask my American or Australian friends to bid for me.... but I cant ask for favors all the time so I usually add through trading and buying directly from members who would accept cash through registered mail. The idea of having a small coin shop selling US coins in the middle of Cairo or Alexandria or Giza is a great one .... it my serve as a nice retirement plan .... I hope I would be able to make it some day Reselling is not an option for me. I am trying to assemble some nice sets of coins that I cherish and I dont think of them as an investment (because as you said I would never get what I originally payed), but I hope that one of my daughters and may be both would grow to become a collector and complete what I have accomplished. I thought of a Type coin and saw a 7070 Dansco album online to see what coins will it contain. I think that this will be a very difficult job to do, but this doesn't mean I am not going to do it I would leave it till I am able to complete as much possible sets of modern U.S. coins as possible, then I would start this set and let it take as much time and money as it takes I know that it sounds very strange that I am very much interested in U.S. coins to that extent although I live 6875 miles from the US and I have never been to America, but I really love these coins. Here in Egypt, other collectors consider me as their U.S.A. COIN consultant. They ask me a lot about any coin they find. I even sometimes receive calls from people I dont know asking about a US coin. Thank you again for your advice, it was very helpful..... much appreciated

You're off to a great start and more. It's been mentioned that a small handful of Lincoln's can be tough, but Roosevelts and Franklins are quite do-able. Also mentioned, but I'll say it again, very impressive for the distance.

And even if you were in Chicago, there would be a difference from the North side to the South side. That could change the distance to sevearl miles. Possibly with your knowledge of US coinage, you might really want to consider a small coin store there. World coins and US coins too. If you could buy some of our coins in bulk, such as a large quantity of Wheat Cents, might be good start. Not sure but I wonder what the market would be like there for USA coinage.

Looks like a good collection especially for your location. I roll search and am about to finish a box of cents and will be starting on 2 boxes of nickels. If you were to post what cents and nickels you need, I may be able to help you out.

Not trying to brag or anything but I have, thanks to my father collecting for over 50 years, probably almost all of those missing from your collection, except the 1909 S VDB, but do have the 1922 no mint mark. When my father started, he had no idea the value, just how many were minted as stated in all of those blue books and he was just trying to fill every slot. I go to flea markets and auctions on occasion and still find some great buys. Not an expert by any stretch and just read a great deal on what might be valuable and then look for it. And have yet to send anything for grading even though to get serious, should do it. I also find you really need to have some great magnifiers to examine coins and find the value not readily seen with the human eye. Towards the end of his time collecting, he realized those 60 and 70 small dates might be valuable and in the empty spaces of those blue books you could add things, so he filled them with all small dates. Here is a coin I picked up at a flee market last week. I was drawn to it because what was on the liberty. Guy was selling it for a dollar so I bought it.

EgCollector - Very impressive for residing in Egypt and only collecting for 5 years. I have just begun to collect and don't see myself having that much in 5 years. Maybe living in Egypt is a good thing and has saved you a lot of money in the long run by not having all the coins that are out there tempting you. Larry

Thanks Larry i really saved a lot of money that I would have spent on American coins if I was living in U.S. American coins are very interesting and I like many designs that I hope one day I would be able to have an example of each
