Welcome to the club! :-) Unfortunately they are getting cut up to go in the albums I debated it but it just comes out cheaper to buy the whole set than individual coins. The Ike's alone would cost what the whole set cost me Plus the cello is not doing them any good. I noticed slight toning even on the State Quarters from early 2000's. I get the fascination of having a complete mint set and I almost didn't do it. But I know I would have just put them in a box and probably never look at them again. This way I'm more likely to look at them. Funny thing is this year I had increased my mint and proof set subscription from the mint to two thinking I would start keeping one intact but then they jacked the prices up so that is not going to happen now.

To each their own, I'm certainly not going to fault you. But with regard to cello toning...I have Mint Sets that are more than 60 years old with no observable toning. And, admittedly, others that are only 20 years that have a slight bit of goldish ting. I prefer the untoned ones, but nothing in my collection is "in your face" toned. On the other hand, I have a number of album housed coins with obvious album-ring toning. Some people delight in attractive toning. I am not really one of those people. That's clearly a personal preference. I enjoy my Mint Set collection. It's pretty apparent from this forum that I don't have a lot of company. I won't touch it, buying coins individually where needed. A pretty recent exception to that, recently to complete the 1999-present Quarter albums, I have been buying sets of 10, and have nearly completed Statehood, ATB, and American Women from cannibalized sets. Well, Statehood and American Women ARE complete via this route. But, not from my Mint Set collection, LOL. To me, the intact Mint Set is as valid a collection as any other. And, I'm only three short of completing 1959 to 2025. 2026 will end it.

I'm with you on the OGP mint sets, mine go back to 1950 bot the proof and uncirculated ones. Quote: I won't touch it, buying coins individually where needed Good Man

It's outrageous that today, you can buy a 1959 US Mint Set, with $1.70 face value of 90% coinage, for close to the same price as a 2026 Mint Set will cost from the Mint.
