Here is an excellent microscope objective for viewing mintmarks or other small details, at a good price. You will need an adapter to go from your camera or extension mount/thread to RMS thread. Working distance is ~10-15mm so lighting is always a challenge, but the shape of the objective lets reasonable light get to the coin. Depth of field is ~10um so focusing is very critical, and to get best results you would need to focus stack. Lots of caveats but will give you great results if you put in some effort: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bausch-Lomb....m1438.l2649

I've been watching that one since he first listed it. It has gone un-sold twice (or maybe more) and he keeps dropping the price. Hard to tell if the "rim dent" has done significant damage.

Ray, its been a long time since I've been on the site but its great to see you "STILL LEADING" the way for cheap lenses that people can buy for low prices that are fantastic alternative lenses to high cost lenses usually people can't see the difference or not worth the cost for there applications.......Not every one needs,,(but would love to have!!) a Rodenstock APO Radagon D 75mm macro lense........there are many a fine lens to start an education in Macro and coin photography without investing thousands in educational costs of equipment just to shoot a few coins ! Drive on soldier!!
