I have found 5 examples of 57-D broadstrick wheat cents. Is it just a lucky find or is there something common on these 57-D examples?

i dont believe this is a brod strike, it looks like a coin that was taken out of a "lucky penny" holder.

A Lucky Penny holder is a metal encasement around the penny.
Usually a genuine broadstruck will not have the abruptly cut off lettering as this one does. Look at a few genuine broadstruck examples and you will get a hang of what a real error looks like.

Adam is correct, it is a former Encased Cent. A broadstruck coin would not have a flattened area that cuts into the peripheral devices but that is a a hallmark of a coin freed from an encasement ring.

FYI - Here is an example of a Encased Cent. The OP example was probably pressed between the two sides.

it would be off to find 5 examples of those, why was someone encasing 5 of them from the same year?
