My opinion is this coin has been worn/damaged/altered and the large MM over the dome has been removed through mechanical means subsequent to the coin leaving the US Mint.
Should be of course a P, D or S.
The possibility of a Henning comes to mind ... but there are no know 1943 Henning ... so I discount that idea.
Well I think its just worn off. I have one that I thought didnt have a MM until I looked real close and saw a P. It was so worn I almost thought there was nothing there. However yours doesn't show anything, and it could be a Greaser.
