On a whim, I put what I considered a low bid on this auction, and won. For about 50 cents apiece, how can anyone go wrong handling coins, some from the 19th century!

I know nothing about coins from Great Britain, and, would like to find a good beginner's book to read up on them, so, if you have any thoughts, let me know....I did locate Predecimal.com, and, it has a lot of good info...any other links, feel free to let me know...I just ordered the "Collector's Coins Great Britain-2011" paperback...looks pretty good.......my first impression about these GB coins is they are nice to look at, and, compared to American Copper Coins of the same rough era, seem like a bargain. As usual, I am always interested in Varieties and Error coins withing the denominations...so, off to start 2 new sets...Penny & Half Penny..should be fun...I think Lighthouse may have a good selection of albums?
Thanks
Calvin

I also collect British coins and I love them. I suggest just that- collect what you really like and enjoy. You will be glad you did. Have fun!

As for a book, go with Seaby's books on British coins. They know their stuff and have been publishing books on the subject or decades.
