Good afternoon. I was wondering if this 1913 half dollar can be graded G4 or not. It is heavily polished and worn. Thank you!

Every coin can be graded, usually if there's something wrong with it you say that on top of the grade. It's possible to have a MS 65 scratched and so on. There's enough detail left in the crown and enough detail in the robe this is around an 8 , harshly cleaned.

G-6 would be the technical grade, but my net grade for this piece would be 'sterling melt'!

I got all excited when I saw this thread on the front page of ccf... I was going to talk about my 1913 Half... But this is Canadian currency... so it doesn't fit...

ANYWAY... My 13P Barber Half was found on a shipwreck of a ship that burned that was off the coast of Maine. It's so crazy looking. Damaged / Coroded / Freaky Toning... But one of my favorites.

You know what, if I owned a grading company I would absolutely do that. But enough people here get mad at me just because I have melt buckets that I'm sure I would become the most hated grader since... well just since forever :)

This is a great hole filler, but I agree G8 harshly cleaned.

Use it next time you're golfing to mark your ball on the green.

It would be a great conversation starter.
