Just going through some cwr's I got today and came across this one . The coin is a mess I can assume there is a Cud and I have no idea what else is going on with it PMD ? Thanks in advance , Matt-
I don't know what happened to it, but its appearance would not have been caused by a mishap in a coinage press. It's some sort of post-strike damage/alteration.
Defintely PMD, not from the mint. Someone abused this coin! I did the same to a lot of common change after I began collecting, not to defraud, just to see how and what happened, like blowtorching, baking, acid baths, different household cleaners, all kinds of experiments went on in the basement around 1979 and 1980, then I found out about the ANA and that they were only 60 miles away, joined up and really began to learn about AT and PMD as well as Counterfeit Detection of altered and fake pieces, but it was finding stuff like this that made me wonder how did it get that way.
