there is a chick on the net who I know to be living in that area, who is constantly trying to scam ebayers and anyone else she can, I havnt come across her for a few months now, but I would not be in the least surprised if this is her. already been chased from 3 towns cause people where getting close to her over the last 15 months. and yes she is the type of person who will set up 10 or 20 accounts at which ever site she joins, been banned from many sites after she was exposed. when I was friends with her she did admit 7 ebay accounts to me, so nothing would be abnormal from this girl.

in his defence, I have received error coins and bank rolls from kingtutty on ebay in the past. His name is Rob and he was both a communicative and honest seller in his dealings with me at all times. I agree the coin looks like it has been mutilated to the hilt. Hydrochloric Acid or Caustic soda will both attack the aluminium Bronze. Some of the scratch marks on the left of the obverse side look to have a consistent semi circular pattern or radius, so perhaps ground with a dremel or similar grinding tool first. The only error and most concerning thing I saw was the weight of a "new" AU$ one dollar is 9 grams, and the charity its going to have had their email address stolen! Being listed on ebay.com he could have easily given the lot to a "secure charity" via ebay.

Perhaps the people bidding know the coin has more PMD than a wannabe wavy 66', and are only interested in the jesus/obama/gillard that appears to shine through that 'untouched' surface... nevertheless... I smell a troll.

Has this been reported to ebay? Seems it would fall under false advertising.

For the record, here are the pics of the coin in question: It appears to me to be oxy-torched to the point of melting, rather than acid-treated. Acid would've attacked the edge milling, and that still seems to be at least partially intact. Although I'm not entirely certain what aluminium-bronze alloy would do under an oxy-torch; it might burn rather than melt. And I'm not about to waste $1 trying to find out. I see three problems with the listing: - Seller claims its an error, when it's a post-mint concoction. - If seller has manufactured this "error" themselves, they've defaced Australian coinage, a crime under the 1965 Currency Act. - Seller claims to be fundraising for charity, but doesn't appear to be following ebay Australia's charity guidelines.

the strange discolouration near the main roo's legs and the 1 could be heat caused, and melting would explain the lumpy shape of the damaged side.

This seller is either an idiot or just a total ratbag. The coin is obviously a manufactured error. And like Sap states its against the law to do this to Aussi coins. But worst of all they come up with some bul about giving the proceeds to charity. I have reported the seller I suggest everyone else does as well, Instead of just talking about it DO IT

It sold for $63.50. It makes me wonder what motivated the bidders. Was it the charity? Was it the alleged face on the damaged side? Was it the free Yak bone? Or did they seriously believe they were getting a rare error coin?

Another option.... It was trout1105 and he/she is going to raise an "item not as described" dispute. :)

Quote: he/she is going to raise an "item not as described" dispute. You mean something like - "the seller claimed you could see the face of Jesus in this coin but I can't see squat"
