1) I built the computer myself - an Intel Core i5 overclocked to 4.5Ghz - and if you forego the SSD I used and employ something cheaper than Win7 Ultimate, you could duplicate it for about a grand not counting the monitors.

2) The software comes free with every Canon dSLR. I could teach you to use it in 10 minutes if you already understand the terms aperture, ISO, exposure and white balance.

3) Santoku? Well, you'd have to talk to rmpsrpms about that but not counting the lens and MZ7 (which I also acquired from him), it's one of the cheaper components on the desk, I'll say that much. You could hang a camera from a $20 tripod over the corner of the desk and do pretty well, if you had a factory macro lens. Trust me, I've done it.

4) The desk was $75 delivered from Staples - I caught a sale. It's a Z-Line Gemini, and I'd have happily paid the $130 retail but Staples insisted that I not.

SuperDave-hope it is ok to ask this here--what kind of lights are you using (I really have problems with my lighting) and secondly, how do you get the enlarged image box that shows in your second pic of your desk? Thanks!

I can't believe that everybody leaves their coins out in the open that way. As soon as I get one, away into the safe it goes until I can catalog it and
tuck it into a 2X2 or album...

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a messy desk.

I just keep my current coins I'm searching through, out in the open. The rest is stored away, fairly neatly.

I just don't have the time to put everything into tubes, folders, and 2x2s that quickly.

Looks all too familiar. Drives the wife nuts. She hates clutter. But she collects also so she gets it.
