hehe diamonds are a great investment if you know how to purchase them! know your 4c's and buy them at a dollar per point you should have no problems reselling them for profit! most jewel shops will pay the same or less as for natural gem stones you can buy fully cut and polish stones on ebay for as low as 28 bucks per 100 carets!

You were smart to back away as Ed said TBK, as getting into the diamond game right now with the hope of turning a profit is a fine way to loose your shirt if one invested enough....
It blows my mind how we add a dollar or three on to offers for each tiny cut diamonds are they just are not worth much right now. As they are all but worthless. A half a karat or more, then you are talking some value, but not much. The stone setting actually costs you KEY gold weight on resale, as for example if I lay a bracelet on the scale that comes in at 7.20 pwt, then we might take away say down to 7.00. And always better to be safe an take a little more, then a little less, depending of course on stone size when figuring the value of the gold item in question....
Unless you are sharp like a couple of members here an know how to make jewelry an cut stones, probably best to stay away from them, minus getting them real cheap, and again in large karat size....

Quote: I do know that diamonds are not especially rare as gems go and that it is only via cartel control of the market that they have the value that they do. DeBeers is selling its interests precisely because they're finding they can no longer apply enough control. Without them supporting the market, clear coal prices could plummet.

No doubt, Fredd. Not only that but artificial diamonds are not that difficult to make with the right equipment and they can be either uber pure or salted with the same impurities common among natural diamonds. I would think that the latter of these would be quite difficult to tell from natural stones. Many years ago, my wife conned me into going into a jewelry store and looking at some diamond jewelry. She was ooh-ing and ahh-ing over various diamond rings and finally asked me what I thought of one ring in particular. I replied that it looked a lot like 5 grams of gold with 1/3 of a gram of tetrahedral carbon stuck to it. She was not amused.

So some scrap into the rally today and bought this. I have been sitting a bag of scrap for about a year now and decided to liquidate it and diversify into a different game, and by different game I mean full retail. Oh well I like it and this is a brag thread so here it is.

Traded for my first poured silver ingot. I can see why people collect these. They have a good premium attached to them. If there are collectors of poured bars on CCF, please give me your thoughts. If you need to know the time, I'll look at my Timex. Hmmm, 8:18 in the morning. Ahhh OK.

Last night I won the bid for a gold bar ok, it was only 1 Gram, but I needed a gold bar to complete my metal bar collection. Once it gets here, I will have a bar of Aluminum, Brass, Copper, Gold, Lead, Nickel, Palladium, Platinum, Silver, Tin, Titanium, and Zinc. Most were purchased as a curiosity.

Nice Fuzzy, I like that idea well done. That would be a real neat collection to inspect each piece in person..... Nice watch TBk, am I of the understanding you sold you junk jewelry hoard in order to fund that Rolex beauty. Curious, what metal is it composed of? That hologram ASE is beautiful, bet those carry a hefty premium? RastaT, love that 2 oz. old Ingot pour! Bars like that call out to me to buy them. Hawk, let me be in your collelction, my premium I carry is worthy of your great hoard, rof .... Serioulsy love those, as does most, not hard to re-sale at all.... I like the Monarch tombstone 2 an 3 oz. pours, I really wanna get some of those....

Fuzzy, now you need a nice Rhodium coin, and last time I checked, they go for premiums equal or higher to platinum, IF you can find one.... Best example I could find for you Fuzz, via a 30 second search. And trust me did not take long, very hard to find these, and this is the best priced one on ebay.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Gram-Eagl...em3cbeb7f527

Silverhawk74, If I buy that coin not slabbed, its only $91 per gram. EDIT - and that's for a coin a little smaller than a silver Three Cent piece (13mm vs 14.3mm).

Did you ever notice if you buy gold coins the wife just looks and says something like why are you spending our money. However if you buy a rock for her finger she thinks this is the greatest investment of the household money. Diamonds are still a girls best friend.

Well, there you go get an un-slabbed example, as the one I posted may have been basement graded by a fifth grader from the look of the label, lol....

Silverhawk,
That rolex is stainless steel, submariner model. Rolex introduced this to try to capture the younger generation into buying what most consider a "retirement watch" brand. Me being younger 27 I own two rolex's both I barely never wear due to there old man look, I prefer my Tag Heuer watches they seem to have the right look for the younger generation.
