I found this coin while searching all pennies instead of just the key dates (thanks to advice on here guys).

I listed this coin on ebay, but what is the correct term for this? I know a Cud has to be around the edge of the coin, is it a die chip?

It is a die chip. Also called a die break, just depends on personal preference in many cases. This is a rather large one, but it is in a very common place for these to happen. It has a value of $1-$5 as a conversation piece.

In a few rolls I found a few examples of die chipping going on. I made a progression gif to show what I found.

Describe it correctly as a large die chip, but also mention "hornet's nest", because it certainly looks like one.

It looks like a good number of these were struck since I posted one and so did another member. Here's my thread with my pics and the other members pics.

It'll be interesting to see what yours goes for on ebay.
