Aarong - The $50 AD99 313333 to me would be described as a near solid serial. They can be good, but in the higher denominations a lot of people tend to be a little scared because of how much they're going to have to fork out for the note (or the premium on top of the $50). I'd be grading it as aVF-VF (highest) SPG1 - Loving some of your notes:
- Radar - $50 CD99 288882
- Radar - $5 EH06 988889
- Low Serial - $10 UUU 000131
- Near Solid - $20 XAC 666660
- VVV - Just because of the triple letter
I'm a just sucker for low serials, high serials, radar & radar repeater serials, solid serials...pretty much just all SERIALS. To me it's a numbers game.

"Near Solid" LOL,normally Goatie I agree with everything you post but on this ocassion I'm afraid I cannot agree. Either it solid or it ain't,no such thing as near solid or semi solid or what ever spin some on ebay want to call them. This is not a go at you personally Goatie but seriously what are we going to have next near last prefix, near first prefix. I have been very disappointed in some top line note sellers in the past with this semi solid carp, there is no such thing in my opinion,it is just a marketing ploy & nothing more.

Quote: but seriously what are we going to have next near last prefix too late. Its already been done http://www.ebay.com/itm/1994-20-2nd...em231a45b67fIn the end it is up to the market. Clearly semi solids won't get the premium that a full solid would but if there are people willing to buy them......

I collect those semi and near solids because I have all the first and last prefixes. I am also collecting the prefixes (paper notes) that are solid as well as those that end with AA & ZZ.
It's just something else for me to "collect"
I don't have many solids because they have become popular in the last few years & so the prices have gone up.

Appleangel07, I'm not getting defensive, but I like to just explain fully, my knowledge of things. With that near solid; it's just what I know them as, which is probably marketing working on me. That is true that it is or it isn't, but I know people refer to them as near solid. It's just that I've seen some notes in the past sell listed as "near solid serial". As we know there are too many sharks out there trying to make two dollars out of one. An example I've got is a Fossil Watch which I sold: http://www.ebay.com/itm/320829519433The guy that purchased it for only $35.95, gave me neutral feedback & the feedback he left was "ok". I then looked at his items for sale & it sold yesterday for a modest $61.00: http://www.ebay.com/itm/260961852476So I'm going to have fun trying to get the feedback removed. I haven't left feedback to that seller yet, because I'm still trying to work out what to do... As you'd know I'm a collector, but I'm into the real deal. I'm offering my advice to if it helps people, they can choose to accept or not accept the advice that I have given. In this industry the hardest thing is to get agreement between grading, terminology & minor details...it's where all the issues lie.

This is extraordinary. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...p=true&rt=ncIt seems the PE94 $20 has become the key note in the polymer series - and if this price was anything to go by - the whole decimal series. This note would have been rated in "fine" condition but sold for over $1,000. According to Macca's it is unknown in aUNC or UNC so they dont even provided a value. (EF has a book value of $3250). I might have to start some $20 noodling

MobOfRoos: As I say, bring on the stats: Fraser/Evans $20 printed 229,699,720 notes (of which 166,799,800 were printed in 1994) PE94 was a mere 179,999 print run (0.11%) of the print or 0.078% of Fraser/Evans $20 notes. The 2011 Vort Report states that only 2.2% of the circulating $20 notes are Fraser/Evans meaning approximately: 5,053,394 The final (theoretical) figure I'm sorry to say would be: 3,960 notes. I'm not noodling for that one...I think I'd have to be noodling for far too long.

Goatie,i absolutely 100% enjoy reading your stats. Now,back to the semi solid & near solid discussion,as much as I dislike seeing these terms used in sales I guess that is the way the note trade is going so I will just have to except it & get over it. In the big picture my opinion really does'nt matter because it is never going to go back now,if people are happy to purchase these types of note & except the terms given them then so be it. If I found notes in circulation with those sorts of number, yes I would probably keep them if I like the numbers, but when it came time to on sell I would not be using those terms to sell my notes ,i may call them an interesting number. This is mainly because when I was learning all the info about notes & collecting I never once read any thing like semi or near in any articles I read & still have'nt to this day & one of the main reason I lost interest for quite a while, your posts here have resparked some of the interest so thankyou for that. It's always good to here others opinions though,i would never get into an argument about it but I would give my opinion & would never want to put anyone off whatever they want to collect.

AppleAngel07: Everything you've said is very true. I'm glad some of your note interest has come back to life. If you're after any stats I'm here with my numbers. I actually emailled Mick Vort-Ronald the other day & told him that I was in the midst of collaborating his stats from the 2011 Vort Report (A survey of 5000 of each denomination to find out what signatories are in circulation) with the overall stats from the RBA & his response was: Dear Christian, your enquiry has prompted me to go back through my surveys from 1993 to 2011 and compile a detailed article for CAB summarizing all of the percentages of signatures in all denominations, hopefully to be in the April issue. Regards, Mick I'm very excited about that. If I had a better software programming background I'd love to be writing an app for Android &/or maybe iPhone with theoretical note based statistics. I once had experience in Visual Basic, but that was around ten years ago. I might have to ask the brother-in-law. Hopefully this is news, because it is to me. Maybe I should change my username to Numbernoteman23? Aarong: Keep posted on this link which is a similar note to yours with no starting price. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AUSTRALIAN-...em1c242d0243

Hmmm, don't know why but when I click see other items on that sellers listings I get nothing & the same happens when trying to view completed listings. Might need to run some scans I think. Goatie that is a good thing with the stats & Mick Vort-Ronald & if it helps collectors fully understand I'm all for it,good onya.
