I've had a thread on "Unidentified coins etc" with no success until I spotted this thread which seems to have just the knowledgeable crowd I seek: https://goccf.com/t/109175It's a medallion from Los Angeles 1984, and I can't find any info. I like it and want more. Thanks, Bob (I don't like to cross-thread, so if mods want to move my first post I'd be happy.)

there are some beautiful coins from the Bejiing Games- I've purchased numerous via E-Bay (VERY reasonable prices) for my son but I think I'm becoming addicted to this Games myself. My 14-year old son is preparing an exhibit of Olympic coins (from 1952 Helsinki to present and then adding London 2012 & Sochi 2014. We are having problems finding Barcelona (Spanish produced), Sapporo and Sarajevo (also produced by the actual host countries)..... anybody have any suggestions besides E-bay?

Thanks fot everyone for continuing this post. I've been collecting Olympic commemoratives for years, and have wondered for years if there were other collectors out there. Keep up the postings, questions and answers...this is a great thread already.
Thanks everyone.

Here is a "pair" from Finland. The upper coin was issued for the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki - the very first Olympics coin. In later years, the Olympic Stadium with its characteristic tower was depicted on the 10 markkaa note (see http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...-10m-rev.jpg). And ten years ago, for the 50th anniversary of the '52 Olympics, Finland issued a €10 collector coin (image: muenzauktion/witte) which shows, on one side, the Olympic Flame and the position of Finland on a globe. On the other side you see the Stadium Tower ... and part of that 1952 coin. :) Christian

Found a couple more. These are from Ukraine. 200,000 karbovantsiv 1996 (hyperinflation period). Dedicated to the centennial of the Olympic Games revival. Even though there were some prior competitions in the 1800's, the first Olympic Games under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee took place in Athens in 1896. 200,000 karbovantsiv 1996. This one commemorates the first Olympics for the Ukrainian national team which took place in Atlanta.

And I see that my Moscow Olympics 10 ruble pieces were accidentally "cleaned up". Here they are: 1978, Equestrian sport. 1979, Volleyball. 1980, Reindeer racing.
