When Buying Gold Coins Whats A Good Price Over Spot

Bryan1315 Bedrock of the Community United States 14454 Posts	Posted 01/16/2007 02:23 am is there a certain percentage over spot one can expect to pay for say a generic 1920 something $20 saint gaudens in ms-62 condition or is it basically running along side of spot prices for generic gold like that. Basically any information about how much over spot is a good price would be greatly appreciated because I have free'd up some funds and feel this would be a good time to fill some of them gold holes in the Dansco7070 with some of the money but feel I need to do some research before I go throwing my money out there Report this Post to the Staff

As gold price picks up momentum the premium increases. IMHO the best bang for the buck is AU-58's if buying US. You get gem 63/64 quality with just the luster broken on the high points at near melt. srkjkd New Member United States 5 Posts	Posted 01/16/2007 04:19 am i was able to pick up 3 half eagles (anacs xf/xf/au) for 160,165/170 last yr w/ spot running at 620. also a ms62 1911d saint for 690. picked them up at auctions. felt is was a good deal especially in relation to spot gold. you may have to put in a LOT of time hunting for the right coins but it can be done. good luck. rggoodie Moderator United States 23580 Posts	Posted 01/16/2007 8:29 pm does anyone on the forum "Invest in Gold" That is are you using a broker to purchase coins on a regular basis.
