Hi everyone. I'm just wondering if it's worth it to try and sell the NIFC halves we all come across crh'ing on ebay? Or is it just best to return them along with the rest of the clads?

Personally, mine go back into the wild. If you have the time and patience, you could make a buck, who knows? All I know is, that it's not worth my time. Good luck

I save them, heck it only cost you half a buck to keep them, I am not in this hobby for the money I am in it because I love the coins.

I've sold them by the roll on ebay, for maybe $15-20. After fees the profit is only a couple bucks but at least they go to a collector who values them at over face.

I hate to ask this but what is NIFC? This day and age of abbreviations has constantly had me asking these questions.

From my understanding 2001 was the last year that half dollars were minted for circulation, all half's minted from 2002 to present are minted for collectors so any half dollar you find that is 2002 to present is NIFC (Not Intended For Circulation).

Why? They are beat up from being circulated and not worthy of being put into an album. I really don't see any reason to tie up that money. I'm hoping that someone has a GOOD reason to keep them that will change my mind.

torn, well for that matter about 95% of the NIFC's are actually BU coins and no they were never circulated to begin with! I basically make rolls of each yr and mint mark and once I completed each yr I give them back for someone else might want to do the same thing

I've been doing the same as M0nks, though I'm not sure there's much point. I haven't found anybody that wants them. The exception for 1970-D and 1987-P/D which are also NIFC and a lot tougher to find - those are definitely worth saving.

I think keeping the nicest one you can find for your set is plenty

The the majority of the NIFC finds posted in the monster JFK Half Dollar Roll Hunters thread are very nice.
