I pass by my local coin dealer. Hes has 5 gallon cans full of wheat cents. he sales them $2 Dollars for one coin, an I'm sure they search.I find that kind of high, when you can get a roll on ebay for $3.00 ,what do you think

But if you're allowed to sit there and search for the year you are looking for or possibly a rare date, then isn't $2. a good deal?

$2 for a coin worth 3 or 4 cents?
What do you think I think?
Unless he lets you look through and find the one you want.

And again I agree. Not even $1 or $0.50 or even less.
ALL those have been searched and researched until the only thing left is as notedl, a coin worth 3 or 4 CENTS.

$2 a roll would be very reasonable for wheaties but $2 a coin for a random date is outrageous

But, but, but... they're RARE! I mean, how often do you find them in pocket change? Therefore they must be extremely valuable, regardless of how many millions were minted or are still in existence, right?

I'm joking, of course, but it's all about perception. Some people will pay a premium for something they want and can't find easily, regardless of the "true" value. It's why people can sell Eisenhower dollars, SBA dollars and bicentennial coins at 2-3 times face value. And it's why I paid $0.75 for each of the last 5 State Quarters my son needed to finish his album before the school year ended last year.

I agree that $2 per coin is ridiculous for common wheat cents, but if somebody is willing to pay that amount then that is exactly what they are worth.

He doesn't really want to sell them. Ask him what his buy price is.

Based on those standards of customer ethics ... I would stay away from anything this 'dealer' has to offer.

These are worth 3 cents to 4 cents each ... no more IMHO.

Considering I just bought 10 rolls for $5.47, I say $2 per coin is rather high.
